Wildegeist

Artist ✦ Writer ✦ Composer

Hi. I'm Wilde!I create things with the intent to make sense of the myriad of spaces and dimensions my mind travels between on a daily basis - be the chosen medium music, art, or story.

Eccentric of sorts. 20% person, 80% secret other thing.
I go by many names and am not particularly choosey, but you can call me Wilde or Geist since I like those best.
I'm a lover of the surreal and unusual, and those elements are prominent in both my stories and art. I often gravitate towards darker themes in my writing, with a bit of whimsy and bittersweetness thrown in. A lot of my inspiration comes from dreams, feelings, or whatever else my mind picks up when it wanders.I'm somewhat versatile in the music department. I love experimenting with new sounds and genres, and always have a lot of fun seeing what happens when I play with sound. Most of my music that isn't standalone is soundtrack for my stories.Other interests outside of art include horror, astronomy, etymology, bugs, and a bunch of random other little things- I like jumping down rabbit holes of obscure topics a lot.

My current primary project is Sableheart, a webcomic that I write, illustrate, and even sometimes compose special music for. It is not yet released but is getting closer to that stage.

Synopsis:
Arctos, a once gentle-hearted Ixirian knight, sells his soul to interdimensional demons and becomes an icon of fear and corruption after being driven over the edge by a bloody war and the murder of his wife. His wife's killer is hailed as a hero of legend after bringing an end to him, and Arctos is damned to an afterlife of torment.
Two millennia later, Arctos returns to the world of the living, weary and haunted. Ixirios is in its spacefaring era now, and he's been brought back for a life of servitude to a corrupt king and the Borromeans who own his soul. Escaping the grasp of all who sought to control him, he soon finds himself battling for his life and freedom in the stars, dealing with a host of foes both new and old- as well as a bad case of temporal culture shock.

Content warnings:
Violence/blood, heavy themes, occasional strong language.
Genre:
Space fairy tale / drama

I make music! You can listen to it on my YouTube or Bandcamp.I vary up my styles and genres and love experimenting. I use a few different aliases to organize my styles more, and post all music from these aliases under the umbrella label of Ossichor Sound.I currently produce under three aliases:

Crypt PatrolElectronica with an identity crisis
My primary alias and style. The style's definitely evolved over time as it was my first name I produced music under, and it will likely continue to evolve. What can generally be expected is mostly solid sounds and synths, an occasional affair with electric guitars, heavy beats, and a sound that's energetic, but usually not aggressive. These days it feels like a cross between drum n bass, synthwave, and a secret third thing. I don't know what the third thing is. (Please help me.)
Fortunately, I do think that Amalgamated Duality is the album where I began to discover Crypt Patrol's musical identity.

Freneti6m
(Shortened as F6M)
IDM / Experimental / Atmospheric
Has a lot of weird noises, surreal and immersive soundscapes, and hazy, dreamlike beats.
Heavy emphasis on personal expression and doing whatever I want with sound. Doesn't adhere to traditional music conventions. Sounds more incorporeal and airy.

Wildegeist
(Just Wildegeist. It's just my name. There isn't even a fancy logo.)
Soundtrack
This one isn't about style so much as intent. You'll find the echoes of all my styles here in accordance with whatever's appropriate for the thing the music's going for. But it's also probably the only alias you'll see me make more symphonic or orchestral work under too. If I'm making music and it's for one of my stories, it'll be under this alias. If someone has me do soundtrack work for them, it'll also be under this.

What program/tools do you use?

Art:
-Clip Studio Paint EX (software)
-Huion Kamvas 22 Plus (tablet)
Music:
-FL Studio (Primary DAW)
-Many VSTs, but some major ones I use are U-He Hive, Zebra2, VPS Avenger, and Shreddage III Hydra with Kontakt.
- A bunch of different effect plugins, but two I really like are Zebrify and MRhythmizer. (Since I've been asked about my reverb: I just use Fruity Reverb 2 and touch it up with Ozone.)
- Ozone 9 (Mastering), Maximus (extra balancing)
The weird abstract fractalish visuals you see me use sometimes:
JWildfire.
(I often manually edit or touch up the images after too.)
Writing:
Scrivener.
I know writing software isn't really a big question people think about, but I highly recommend it to any fellow writers no matter what they do. It's a great tool.

Can you do music for my project?

I'm open to the idea, and there is no harm in asking me, I even encourage it! I love making music that's connected to stories or characters. It's even one of my dreams to do a soundtrack for a video game someday, and I think that's one of the things I'd be best geared towards!
I take it on a case-by-case basis since my process is very inspiration-based, and I'm gonna want to know about what you want me to make music for before I can decide if I'll take it or not, cause if an idea doesn't grab me, I'm just not gonna be able to find the right sounds for it, and I wanna be able to provide something good. Feel free to pour your heart out about what it is you're making, I kinda need that information in order to make the right choice.
Doesn't necessarily need to be a project either, I'm also down to compose custom theme music pieces for your OCs if you tell me a bit about them!Keep in mind I do charge, but price is another thing I discuss depending on what you want and how you plan to use it.
If it's for a project you're making, I'm going to need at least a proof of concept, or some indication you're decently into the development and process of your own project.
Do not take it personally if I decline something.
It does not mean I think your idea is bad (I probably like it, even!), it just means that I'm not the right person for it. I sincerely mean it when I say I strongly appreciate every inquiry, even ones I don't end up taking!

Do you take art commissions?

Generally, no. But I do open them sometimes under specific circumstances, usually emergencies. It's very rare that I have to do this, though.

Why do you do music for people but not other art?

Cause I love doing soundtrack work, but I don't like drawing for people unless it's on my own accord, and prefer to prioritize my personal work. Making music and making visual art are completely different creative processes for me, so I have different terms on them. Art commissions tend to cause really bad burnout for me when I have too much, too.

Can I use your music in [thing]?

The answer is yes 99% of the time, as long as you credit/link back to me somewhere.
I don't believe in the heavily restrictive copyright that the music industry has normalized, which really only benefits record labels and not artists anyway. I don't deal with that and I firmly believe music should be shared and used as long as it is in accordance with the artist's wishes.
But hey, speaking of artist wishes, I do have some terms/conditions I'd like to clarify! Don't worry, they're not very restrictive, and are mostly here cause clarity is important.
If you are an INDEPENDENT CREATOR (especially artist or animator) looking to use it in your videos/animations, and you don't expect to make any money or much money out of it, go right on ahead, you don't even need to ask. And show me, cause I'd love to see.
If you're a STREAMER, or you're just kind of playing my music in an area, go ahead, I encourage it.
If you're a SMALL YOUTUBER who just wants it as background music or intro/outro music, sure, go ham. Just link back to me somewhere please.
If you're a DEVELOPER of some sort, contact me directly with more details.
If you make a significant amount of money off the content you'd be using it in, or your use is more commercial, please directly contact me to discuss terms.Do not use it in content that is pornographic in nature, and do not use it in content that is hateful in nature. These are hard limits.
